About the measures

Raw index

Shows the published CPI level. Index bases can differ between series, so levels are not always directly comparable.

Percent change

Measures the change from the same month one year earlier, the familiar year-over-year inflation rate.

Normalize

Sets both series to 100 in their first shared selected month, making relative growth easy to compare.

Projected trend

Connects the selected beginning and ending Series A observations at a constant compounded monthly rate and extends it through the selected projection month.
